Court pronounces verdict in seven year old case

Hyderabad. A local court in Hyderabad awarded death sentence to the son and daughter of a retired railway employee in the 2019 murder case, while giving life imprisonment to his wife.

It is alleged that the 70-year-old man was murdered by his family members to get pension benefits. They mixed poison in their food and fed them and later cut the dead body into several pieces and kept it in buckets at home because they were unable to dispose of it.

The Principal District Judge Court at Malkajgiri found the accused guilty under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and awarded death sentence to the deceased’s son (47) and daughter (36), while his wife (65) was sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the man who was murdered was working as a goods train driver till 2000 and had taken voluntary retirement due to medical reasons. The three accused conspired to murder him to take over his pension and house.

However, on August 18, 2019, some local residents, suspicious of foul smell coming from the house, entered the house and found human remains there. Later he informed the police. The three accused were arrested on August 21, 2019.
